ID this situation, a very healthy and active six line wrasse found dead, I saw it last alive last night. This morning I was very surprise to find this fish on sand half eaten with bones still intact. What could have done this? it' not like it died naturally then got eaten. I think the fish got murdered. I know what you are thinking. That there's some kind of predator lurking in the tank. Yes this is possible but who'd up done it?
The suspects are the following; the hermit crabs gang, two cleaner shrimp, red shrimp, and 3 sifting stars. I don't think saw. Have you had this happen to you before? Thank you in advance for any input.

Note: My live rocks were all from dry rocks, its not like a hitchiker got in.

20 months got over 300 lbs of what became live rocks, in a 120 g tank.

he died most likely from some type of disease or shock of some kind, the blue legs did what they were supposed to cuc that is, i had 2 tangs die within 1 hour of each other that were over 10 years old? sometimes it happens with no explanation, sad to say:(

Thanks for the input James, yes this is possible. It's just hard to believe that a healthy fish could just suddenly die. It eats very well, maybe it ate too much. He was also one of the aggressive fish in the tank, b/c of this I could not add any kind of wrasse. I guess I'm going to have to leave it there...

    Thanks,
    dante

Did you notice if its gills were moving fast or anything like that? Have you checked you parameters and made sure there is nothing that could shock the tank? It definitely wasn't killed by anything you listed...

What I noticed was that he was very fat, and acting weird when it saw its reflection on the aquarium glass. I did not think much of this b/c it thinks it sees competition. Could it be parasite, b/c he looked all swollen.

Dodged a bullet. Get a better wrasse and watch your other fish to see if they start to show symptoms.
