Six line or Mandrin. Does anyone have an opinion on which one may be better for a reef tank. I am wanting one or the other or maybe both. Does anyone have any suggestions. pros and cons on either fish would be appreciated. I feel I have enough pods in the tank so I am not to worried about that aspect, thanks

Get the six-line - Pros: It's not as hard to keep as a mandarin, nice colors, isn't shy, I've read somewhere it eats pests.
    Con: Can get pretty aggressive.
Mandarin - Pro: Nice colors, fun to watch hover over rocks picking at food.
    Con: only eats copepods.

    My fish list is:

    false perc clown
    sailfin tang
    naso tang
    hippo tang
    pink tail trigger

would the Six line harrass these?

Probably not. Our six line only harrasses things that "mess" with his rocks (he thinks he's king of the rock). He tormented our blenny until the blenny got bigger than him - the torment ended then. He also didn't like the pygmy angel when we first got her because she picked at "his" rocks. The pygmy gave him the death stare a few times and the torment ended there. The six line is very well behaved now! He also eradicated the bristle worms from the tank...

my vote is the mandarin, if i had enough pods and my tank was old enough, i would easily get one over a six line, but that's just me :D get which one you like the most

i have no experience but i heard that they will compete for the food, so i think it's usually one or the other. But i'm sure people with experience will chime in

cant say for sure. the six line will eat pods and prepared food. as long as the six line doesnt eat to much of the mandarins food source it may work. i would add the six last if you tried it. i love my six line.
