    what, if any, side effects are there in using lemon juice to get rid of aiptasia? ph? nitrifying bacteria? ammonia level? and so on

    With the small amount you add in the system, nothing. It is quickly diluted. The small amt of citric acid you are adding to the water column won't even show up as a change of reading, even if you use crushed coral as your substrate. Aragonite sand and a good dKH will act as a buffer and protect against pH swings.

    You are only going to inject 0.1-0.2ml per aiptasia anyway.

    I pumped a crap load of lemon juice into aiptasia trying to kill them. Nothing ever happened to the tank.
    On a side note, lemon juice didnt work on even a single one for me. IME just spend the $5 on some Joe's Juice and be done with it.

    i used lime juice and i got rid of the 2 aiptasia i had growing in my sump, and it worked great, in seconds the aiptasia turned black and i just removed it syphoning it out.
