Well my son finally talked me into letting him get a husky. after reading up on them (something reefing has taught me, research every purchase) I realize this is going to be a challenge. I was just wondering if anyone here has or had a siberian and can give me any tips or info on them. Thanks in advance.

I have had one and yes, very challenging. Always spay and neuter unless you are a breeder.
EDIT: This breed requires a lot of exercise or will terrorize you and your house.

I had one years ago and loved it. It was extremely hard to train because it's pack instinct made it want to be boss of the house, but she was sweat as can be.

deffiently HIGH energy dogs, i work at a animal hospital so we get all sorts of dogs but huskies are deffiently high energy dogs, good training would be a must with these dogs especially if your son is young. I have never personally owned a husky but before i started working at the vet, they were my favorite dogs but they are known for jumping fences, and lol just a lot of energy, but they sure are beautiful.

Good luck sorry i cant be of too much help, that's just my experience with them

They are very energetic and big, and can be very dominant, so that's why I asked the age of your son. They aren't good for young children, and you must be very strict (but nice!) with training.

He is 15 and really impressed me with all his reading up on the dog. he says he is ready for the challenge so I guess I have to prepare myself to be ready also. Should be fun, but from what I've read, well worth it if trained right.

Thanks for the quick replies. I plan on having it fixed, also some sort of obedience training or class. My brother trains shepards in shutzhund (kind of like police dogs, but more intense) so hoping he can help out some also. So far the challange is just finding one. might have to drive about 6 hours to one of the only breeders that I found in the state that has any ready in the next month or so.

You could try to find a puppy through a rescue too!!
