hey 3reefs, Mkizla here. Im just curios what shrimp would be a nice addition to the tank besides cleaner shrimp. I had a bad case with cleaner shrimp where it would eat small fish like nemos or something. I always was so curios about mysterious death when I add a fish, while my corals did good, but after my cleaner shrimp after I took him out to lfs, no other fish died.

So my guess is him, even though it sounds weird but ah well. What would be a good shrimp to get? I might consider another cleaner shrimp too also.

That's weird about your incident with the cleaner shrimp. Coincedent maybe? Idk, I've never hear of or experienced that happening.

If you want a different kind then a pistol shrimp would be good. You could also have a pistol & a goby as a pair.

More likely is that the "cleaner shrimp" was a camel shrimp. Lysmata species (cleaners) include the peppermints everyone loves, and camels can be easily mistaken for peppermints.

If it was a cleaner shrimp, something else killed the fish, and the cleaner ended up doing his job as part of the CUC.

That is true. I guess the reason I thought it is because when I say "cleaner shrimp" I generically think, Pacific Cleaner Shrimp, because that's what I have.

hey man how big is your tank? A lot of species of shrimp will do well in a small tank. I had a coral banded shrimp that did well in a nano tank until he discovered that he could FEAST on hermit crabs. He has since been moved into a 120 and is LOVING life!

And just to affirm what other users said - it was more likely your fish died and the shrimp was merely cleaning up.

Cleaner shrimp are great additions to any tank IMHO!

I don't trust peppermint shrimp. I had a bad experience were it ate 50 dollars worth of coral. If you have the money for starfish I would get a Harlequin shrimp. prettiest shrimp if you ask me.
