I dose Cal, Mag, and Alk like most of us. I have a Blood Red Shrimp, Pep. Shrimp and 2 sexy shrimp. I have never had a problem with my shrimps molting. I do a 15% water change every 2 weeks and use IO Reef Crystals.

Never dose something that you can't test for! ;)

This is false. Stomatopods do not require iodine supplements to aid in molting. Regular water changes to replace trace elements are all that is required for any animal.

It is inadvisable to dose iodine because it is extremely easy to reach toxic levels, and difficult/expensive to test for.

Good to know. I would never dose anything that I don't test for...especially Iodine. I currently don't dose anything and hope to stay that way.

I test and dose the big three; calc, mag and alk and do water changes for the rest. Tons of people on here do the same and are successful, I figure why mess with things that haven't been proven important.

The iodine dosing thing comes from commercial shrimp farms. If I had 10 million shrimp I may look into it, but my four shrimp and one stomatopod do perfectly fine without.

I have a cleaner shrimp. I don't dose iodine. I do dose trace minerals which has trace iodine in it, its called Reef Solutions by EcoSystems. As for salt, I use Kent Marine.

I never said that you had to dose iodine or anything. Just that they can have difficulty during there molts.

Sorry I thought you were saying they have difficulty without iodine dosing.
