I have a 30 gallon tank all set up & ready to go. I love all kinds of aquariums from goldfish,to salt & tropical. I have them all. I have worked with aquariums for many years & want something different. I would like to make my 30 gallon a freshwater show tank. Any suggestions ? ( fish ? plants ? whatever? )
    Thanks.:)

I've always liked freshwater. A nice planted tank alos can be made to look incredibly nice. However I think if I had a thirty I would make it an african cichlid tank. The tank size is going to limit things, but it could still be a very nice tank.

Just Like J.P suggested I'd think about the same type the fish are very active and colorful and would be great for a tank that size..

    Getting Along

Thanks for your input. I have some experience with African Cichlids. I always wonder how many & who is going to get along with who. They can be so agressive ! I don't think live plants would survive either. Am I right ? Anyway, thanks for your replies. How many African Cichilds would you put in a 30 gallon ? Which ones would you choose ?

Plastic plants only :) or you could set up a nice mixed tank of angels ? They next to discus are my favorite F/W fish and make a nice planted system..ome call the angels boring but with all the color and body and fin variations around today its anything but boring. I think.. about 10 even 15 maybe of the A/C in the 30 gallon tank. But filtration dictates that..

I have always wanted to try a discus tank. Is a 30 gallon too small ? How many could I have ? Are they hard to keep ? Will they leave live plants alone ?
Thanks for the suggestion Tangster ! I have not seen alot of discus locally available, but I could talk to my local pet supplier.

A pair would be nice in there They will get to a pretty good size. But slow and not alot of dashing around by them.. I think a nice pair of pigeon bloods or turquoise are a good choice as far as color goes. Where are you located at ? I have several people around the states I know that breed some nice ones.

Thanks for trying, but I am in Canada. I don't know if I'll find any in the medium-sized city I live in. I wish I could get a pair from your friends states side.
