Absolutely. I dip with Tropic Marin Pro Coral Cure and use Interceptor too but dips don't kill everything and QT gives you time for observation. You would be amazed and the red bugs, flatworms, mojanos, aiptasia and nudibranchs you get even from trusted sources.

Am is right about the eggs and even though I don't qt corals I should. I'm set up for it. It wasn't good of me to just put a one liner in like that.

As far as a qt set up a kit from wally world with a hood is fine. Just ditch the incandescent bulbs and replace them with Corallife screw-in base 50/50 CFL's. And add a powerhead for flow. I use a powersweep 214 in my qt when I did qt the first 2 corals I bought. I also built a stand out of egg crate that held the corals at about mid level in the 29g qt.

Not QT'ing and observing your new corals. Go buy or trade for a couple new frags and stick them on a piece of elevated eggcrate in a bare bottom QT tank with some interceptor or other treatment in it. You would be amazed how many bugs and stuff drop off and fall to the bottom. With the eggcrate and bare bottom you really see the results. It impressed me so much the first time I saw it and I treat and observe all my coral purchases now.

Thanks I never thought about it that way all I thought about was ich for fish but don't know much about coral yet. And I figure if I'm buying a quarantine tank I want to set it up the wright way for coral and fish.

Also thanks, you talked me into buying a RO/DI unit and I will be ordering it in a few days:)

Both are wise investments if you plan to stay in the hobby for long. Its addicting so plan for the long haul!;D I've had saltwater tanks since 1979 and reefs since 1985 or so and I don't know what I would do without at least one.
