    hey i have the opportunity to buy a DA Reefkeeper 1 controller for 35$.. are they any good and should i buy it..just comes with the temp probe and the 8 outlets...would it be to my advantage to buy it and add the ph probe and some other stuff..

    or should i just wait..

    for 35 bucks id buy it just to buy it . 35 aint gonna make u or break u so yeah, and if it sucks u can still save to get the one u want

    ok next question... can i add things to this one.. not an expert n controllers as yall can see.. and does it take the same probes as the new reefkeepers

    I would say it would be good to get the model # and year of manuf. then you can refer back to Digital Aquatics and they should be able to advise what compatability issues you may encounter, if any.

    If you are looking to buy some new equipment - then DA should not care at all that you have used equipment - so make them earn that money and have them help you out!

    Ya. you will love a controller, I like having a ph probe, yes you will need high and low cal liquid, but you can take care of that when you buy the probe.

    Nothing special about them that is too confusing once it's set up. My tank stays within .5 f with it, you just crank your heater up a couple degrees and let the controller take over, then you have a good failsafe.

    One thing I did learn is that "with my apex" I have some solid state outlets and some soft switch outlets, this is because the soft switch is easier on your hardware, but the trade off is anything under 7 watts is going to be flaky and needs to be plugged into the solid state.
