Hi i have a 68 uk gallon tank with the following:
    octopus BH-300 prot skimmer
uv sterilzer (The biggest one they do)
fluval 405 external filter with 1 kG live rock rubble , some carbon filter bags, phos remover and some bio balls in the different compartments (there are 8 ) - THIS IS WHAT THE SHOP SAID TO DO!
40 Kg of very good live rock in tank
    coral gravle floor
    heater.....
My tank is 6 weeks old & cycled
    I have 3 turbo snail
    1 snad sifting snail
    1 sand sifting star fish
    1 cleaning shrimp
2 small peppermint shrimp ( to eat the lttle glass anemone i have removed the large ones with a injection)
    and two clowns

    my param are ;
    Ammonia 0
    nitrite 0
    nitrate 5-10
    phos 0
ph 8.3 at 1.30 in the afternoon
    sg 24
    temp 26

my ques is should i get another fluvale 450 so that i can take the carbo, phos remover and other filter and put all them in the new filter and then just fill the spare compartment in my old filter with live rock rubble ( i already have 1 kg in there)
so ill end up with noe live rock filter and one with all the chemical media as at the mo they are all in one.
My tank is crystal clear and i have a very good growth of pink, purple, red and lime green alge & halimeda alge

    Thanks for your time
    K

Cool! Please remember that filtration efficiency is inversely proportional to flow rate! Matt's "Go slow let it grow!" ;)

i'd add something with a biowheel if i was going to add another filter, i'd also replace all the carbon in the canister with bioballs or live rock, something that you wont have to change out often, those penguin filters are great for carbon just change the pads out every few months and the bulk of your biological filtration is undisturbed

carbon loses its effectiveness within 2-3 weeks in saltwater usually when I was using mechanical filtration I was buying the refillable pads and just dumping the old carbon washing the pad really well then refilling it, much cheaper and you get to dictate how much carbon you need/use
