    I am guessing you are not talknig about the clowns? Its the plant? Is it some kind of mangrove tree?

    Thats a mangrove, I would do some reading up but they are awesome additions although they usually are planted in a refugium.

    That's because refugiums are much shallower than a display tank. If left completely submerged like that, it will die. The leaves (growing tip) need to be out of the water so the plant can respirate.

    Yes, with the top out of the water, and as long as you have light on the sump.

    Sorry have to add this after reading articale, But i really like how they take out organic minerals like phosprate(sp?) and nitrates.
