Shackman's SPS Tank! (11/18/2011) New Adds/Growth Shots!!

Hmm... I seem to have missed this before. Great looking tank :thumb_up:

 

Thanks, i did a few more things to it since the initial post, i picked up another kessel LED light, and installed my first vortech MP40, and after that my coral has been in heaven, great polyp expansion and it creates a nice little wave in my tank

 

few new adds, and a few growth shots.

 

And a freshwater Mollie to top it off (It was a bet) and i won!

 

Sweet, those Kessil LEDs look awesome. I just wish someone who had some had a PR meter ;D Definitely will have to follow and see how the growth does with them, that's really the important part. Colors look good, that's the other important part.

 

Well so far the digita that ive got are just thriving under them, and my birdsnest so far im very impressed i wish i had a par meter id already have that measured! Just waiting on my goosneck mount to put the 3rd light up

 

Here is an update with my new halide, anyone have any idea's on how i can mount some moonlights? id like to get some night time viewing on my tank after my halides go down?

Thanks, ive got to wait to turn my light on for my feeding before i can take some growth shots, my blue milli isnt looking the greatest but it was fragged the day i put it in my tank, so the tips are starting to color back up but the rest is sort of blah but other then that, my corals are AMAZING under my halide i love it ;D

 

Yeah, I know you got a lot of flack for dumping the Kessil LEDs but honestly there is a lot of hype around LEDs that just doen't hold true for everyone's tanks. I think people have very good results with LEDs on a whole, but for SPS I don't think they are there yet. Sure, your gonna get great growth, and some colors pop better than before, but as with any light choices there is a downside. A lot of SPS just won't have the color it could under halides. I know that goes majorly against the norm, and I'm sure someone is gonna pop up tell me how foolish I am, but after seen literally 100's of local shops and friends in the business go LED most end up going "meh" they are nice, and cool, but not really anything special.
