Probably just getting acclimated to your tank. Good to hear it was light brown when you got it. That's a very good start to keeping you anemone healthy. What type of lighting do you have and what are you water parameters?

It must have been under M/H light's they get brown when there is plenty of light when they fade to white and purple tips the light in not intense enough

the white slimy stuff is just its "poop", they only have one entrance/exit....lol you get the point. as for the color, as long as it stays light brown he should be fine

The anemones will color shift to adapt to the light spectrum they are under. Well the zooxanthellae will adapt, to be more correct. Like Tangster said, as long as it doesn't bleach to white, you should be ok.
Look at the slimy stuff, is it stringy looking? If it is spitting out its insides in mass, that's not a good sign. If it's just small chunks, then it is most likely poop. But the poop mine expels is usually dark brown.
