    All,

I have a 125g FOWLR tank & am thinking about getting Sea Hares.

I read where they help keep a tank clean.

Any recommendations on how many to get?

    Thanks!

It depends on the size of your algae problem, I keep 1 in my 125

Does the one Sea Hare do a good job of keeping your algae problem down?

One in a 125 is plenty...99% of the time you'll need to find it a new home once all the algae is gone. They are voracious eaters and most tanks can't supply enough food to keep them long term.

+1 Not a good addition to the CUC.IMO As stated they will soon eat all of there preffered algae and be left with nothing. It is possible to supplement there diet with algae wafers but they are also easily damaged by overflows and or powerheads.

see if you can "rent" a sea hare from the store. As most people are not able to keep them alive for very long as said above........they are VORACIOUS eaters and will run out of food. our store will "rent" them where the person will buy them and keep them for a few weeks and then return them when their algea problem is better for half the money they paid.

I had one disappear and two die before making a dent in any algae problems in the past. I say get a gfo reactor and control feedings.
