I need to screw a piece of acrylic to the top of my sump to hold my return lines there in place. I want to screw it so I can take it off easily to clean things if I need to.

What screws are recommended...stainless steel or is there another type I should buy? I only need 2 very small ones to just hold it in place.

    Thanks!

I might be inclined to use small stainless steel hinges.

    Nylon screws.

If you just need a couple you can get them from the "specialty hardware" drawers in the screw aisle at Home Depot.

I'd just go stainless and self-tapping. Nylon would be best but you'll have to tap the hole and give it threads first.

Thanks guys....I will look for a stainless hinge....if not maybe zipties will do the trick.

I just wanted to know what materials were safe near the tank!

Not all stainless steel is equal.

Marine grade stainless steel is not cheap. Titanium costs more, just barely.

What I was going to say, there are various grades of stainless steel. You would need solid stainless steel too, I would go with nylon or zip ties.

That is your best bet. There are so many grades of SS that unless you geta high quality one, it will rust.

A quick way to tell the quality is to see if a magnet sticks to them. If it doesn't, you are good.
