    Bum a couple cups of established live sand from a friend or out of the live rock bin at your LFS. You an also start adding some live rock but I think the sand works better.
    Once the colonizing bacteria start coating the sand grains it will drop like a rock.

    Are you in the Phoenix area? I am in the Deer Valley area and have been known to help a few newbies over the years.

    I didnt rinse my sand when I first set up my tank and it took over a week to really clear up.

    Sounds to me like you have the powerheads pointed directly at the sand. It is possible the heads velocity is too high at such a short distance.

    Marco suggests rinsing all of their sand prior to adding it to the tank.

    Haa. You definitely do not enter the saltwater hobby for "speed." It's a race for endurance rather than a sprint.
