Does anyone have experience with Sand Sifting Stars? I was thinking of getting one but read that they will eat all the beneficial bacteria in live sand. Also, I have some Nassarius Snails and don't want them to get eaten. Thanks.

sand sifting stars are a big plus in your tank all they do is keep the bottom clean the problem people usually have with them is that they dont have a enough sand bed to feed of of and then they starve to death i wouldnt get one if your tank is under 55gallons

I've heard that they do a great job cleaning and stirring up the sand, but that they often starve to death. I'm sure others on here will know more!

mine does a great job going through the sand . im pretty sure you wouldnt want one in a newly established tank because the sand hasnt had time to build up enough "food" for the star. also they may help to keep "old tank syndrome" from happening , or lessen its effects. the last statement is just a guess on my behalf. lol
