Some like a DSB in the main tank. I do not for numerous reasons. I prefer to use a DSB in my refugium.

Yes I was the throttle man on that for several yrs , Until I got hurt in a auto accident if you ever came to any offshore runs in Fl we where all over the state we took 4 world titles in as many yrs in Key West . My last ride was in 2000 . I also ran in the old Hogs Breath Boat Then when Mountain Dew tossed in some serious money we got that hull and built that boat .. Its a very expensive hobby /habit :) reefing is dirt cheap compared LOL
I have a few larger photos of it I can up load if you are intestered in seeing it..

I wish I had researched DSB ALOT more before doing what I did (6" in display). If I could change it now I would BUT I wouldn't put the dsb in my fuge either. I would plumb in a remote dsb of at least 8" with a minimum of 2" water flowing across the top. The advantages of a remote bed are many but the best is the fact that if something were to go wrong you could shut the line providing water to the dsb and totally remove it w/o disturbing the rest of your system. Here's another article that may provide info in addition to the great link Moose provided.

Yeah I have been to many offshore races (I too live in Florida and the ocean is constantly calling my name) I have a buddy who lives in Hobe Sound and he got a scarab from a police auction that had been confiscated from some drug runners, it had 3x 300hp outboards (still nothing like the one you ran on) but it was serious fun, that thing would literally fly when you hit some waves. He ended up taking the motors off and putting them on a Contender (the scarab wasn't practical for his family). My brother just got a 28' Baja sportfisherman and we can't wait to take it down there but it has been a bit too cold for us lately.

I have 100# of Aragonite in my 75DT and I don't mind it one bit, I love it. I like to watch the little critters dig around in the sand against the glass.
