You'll be fine with either company.

Or you will have problems with either company. ;D sorry just being a brat, but I had good experiences with SWF.com and I'm sure people had bad. Live animals are a hard thing to sell and shipping is even worse cause you can't see it before you buy. Even a WYSIWYG sale is just a picture, not like watching a fish swim around or eat.
I think its kinda like buying a laptop. Any brand you search for online has tons of bad reviews. I like HP, but they sell millions of laptops so there are thousands of problems. Doesn't mean that company is horrible. You can find people who hate them though.
I really do think you will most likely be ok with either site. Just see which one has the stuff you want.

I've made a kazillion online purchases over the years and have thus encountered my share of problems. There will always be mistakes. That's life, even in the field I work in where I'm dealing with human lives. Mistakes happen. Sometimes people have unrealistic ideas of what the solution should be, and thus see the stores as being at fault.

Just last week I was sent the wrong fish and my one of a kind fish was sent to someone else. Sure I could go all over the forums and go blah blah blah, but they fixed it to the best of their ability. Now, if these mistakes happened over and over..... but a single mistake once in a while does not make a business "bad".

I have never dealt with saltwaterfish personally, but know someone who has bought from there a million times. Honestly, a crazy amount of times. If you don't like how things go with your purchase, you can always join their forum and complain. Issues get sorted out super quick when they are in the public eye. But always give a store a chance to work things out with you one on one first and give it more than enough time.

I've bought from Liveaquaria at least a 100 times. I can think of 4 mistakes off hand. All were solved satisfactorily.

Agreed, your always going to have you share of problems when shipping anything live, especially fish. Think of how hard we strive to maintain excellent water conditions for these sensitive fish, then throw them in a bag dope them up and trust them to a delivery guy (no offense if your a delivery guy). I personally have purchased from live aquaria & SWF and so far the only casualty was a peppermint shrimp which they give me credit for not just that one, but the whole group of 5. So both companies in my opinion do well.

I agree a 110%!!!! Like I said I haven't ordered from either or yet so it will be a tough call. Since my hubby IS doing the ordering *fingers crossed* I may have him go to liveaquaria since I am more familiar with it than saltwaterfish. It is his choosing though and he is a very smart guy.
