I will say that the aiptasia issue can be fought and won. We eventually won our battle a few years ago, and haven't had issues with them since. Lots of aiptasia-X and just being thorough and anal about looking for them and attacking them is what finally killed things off.

I will say that running an established tank is an absolute joy compared to running a baby tank (<1 year old). Looking through our old build thread, the hair algae and crap we went through was horrendous. We haven't had algae issues in the slightest for quite a while now. No random weird hitchikers in the rock, no aiptasia, it's definitely worth all the work up front.

My regret would be not tearing down our 1/2 bathroom downstairs and turning that into a U shaped wrap-around tank. No idea how big that tank would be...probably in the thousands of gallons...let's just say that my regrets have a bit of a fantasy side to them ;)

Taking in a emporer angel as a favor to my mate.

Free emporer angel has cost almost $7k for a new big tank etc.

Who doesn't love free stuff ?

Welcome back! My biggest regrets are impulse buys which I'm still guilt of from time to time.

My biggest regret is selling off equipment when I thought I was going to be out of the hobby for a few years, just to get sucked back in a year later. It sucks having to buy literally some of the same equipment twice.

Live rock part is true, however the aiptasia was easily taken care of (14 gallon tank).

I also regret using sand, i switched to BB after 1.5 years and now love BB so much more than any type of sand. it does limit some types of fish, but it adds a modern look and makes it much easier to clean up detritus.

Also, I regret buying new things right when they come out. (equipment, specifically LEDs) as with any type of technology, there is always a "Must-have, 100X better" version released the next week.

I regret not buying an mp10, an ATO, or a protein skimmer early on.

I regret my little sister deciding to "help" feed the fish, killing 400$ of sps frags.

I regret not getting a bigger tank.

Quite a few regrets, though still outweighed by the sheer joy of having a tank. Good luck with your 90 gal, and welcome back to 3reef :)

I regret not taking my wife down to the Atlanta Aquarium twice a year instead of entering this hobby because, "Going to Atlanta twice a year is going to get expensive." Good call moron...cause this whole saltwater thing is muuuuuch cheaper.

I do love this hobby...but damn.
