hello I'm a new to keeping salt water tanks and would like to try keeping one. I want to do a small 10 gallon tank. I want to put in at least one firefish goby

    here's my list of questions:
    1) a detail list of all supplies needed( that should have all fish meds needed, names of good products needed)
    2) what other small fish can I add
    3) do I have to use live coral and what bout decorations(can I use fake plants and dead coral, commonly sold in pet stores)
    4) last but not least any usefull info for a first time saltwater keeper

    Welcome to 3reef!

Are you set on a 10gallon tank that IMO is going to be very tough to care for being that your new to saltwater. Always the bigger the easier to care for. As for details on supplies what do you have now? If you dont have anything the including the tank I would get a tank that is reef ready (if your budget can afford it). After that you will need a good light maybe like a PAR38 for something that size. A skimmer dont really know if they make them small enough for a 10gal though you will also need enough sand to cover about 2" in the bottom of your tank and some live rock then I think you should be good. I might be forgetting something though lol

We can deff help you spend your money on here lol :p

Just to list the items you will need:

Tank (bigger the better IMO easier to care for)
Lighting (Very important if there is one thing not to go cheap on its lighting)
Skimmer (How big depends on your tank size)
Subtrate (sand pick your color black and pure white are hard to keep clean IMO)
Live rock (1.5lbs per gallon) I use about 50/50 with live rock and base rock save some cash there.
RO/DI system (cause you deff cant use tap water your phospahtes will be off the carts)
Wave maker( depends on what you are keeping on the GPH)
Salt mix ( I use Red Sea coral pro only cause Ive had great luck with it, but there are many pick what you think will work best you can also get instant ocean good salt mix IMO)

Then after its cycles you can add some fishes and coral. ;D Hope that helps
