    Do they molt and lose their shells and legs? I see the empty body and some empty leg shells on my sand bed behind a rock.

    Is it dead or did it molt? I havent seen it for at least a week now.

    Usually crusties will seem to lose everything in a molt, as in it'll be a whole body.

    Yeah, when a crustacean molts it will look like the entire body, though somewhat translucent. It is their exoskeleton that they are actually losing.

    my coral banded shrimp "dies" about once every 2 weeks. ;)

    My CBS does the same. It looks like him only dead but he always has a complete molt down to the feelers.
