I am considering purchasing a juvenile Pacific Sailfin Tang. I know that they grow to be about 15-16 inches in length. I have a 100 gallon tank and I know that this fish will require a 150 or higher to have adequate swimming room, and plan to make that upgrade at some point in the near future. My question is how long does it take for this fish to reach maturity? Thank you!

Several years to full grown. Would upgrade before it gets half that though. They like lots of swimming room.

Yeah, you would have a while before they need an upgrade.

I have a 6 inch sailfin in my 90g and it is happy as can be. It eats a lot and is growing, but by the time it need a bigger tank, I will have my 193g tank up and running. That should be like 5-6 weeks after the end of July.

I have had the fish for around 5 months and it has maybe grown a half inch or so.

We bought a small sailfin tang about a year ago and he is currently in our 75 gallon tank. He is about 3 1/2 inches long now.

We are planning on moving him to our 200 gallon after we get it setup within the next few months. I don't know if it's just tangs in general but ours has the best personality! He is the biggest begger and eats from our hands. He and our maroon clown are best buddies.

I don't think you will be disappointed in getting one.

you would have a little bit of time but don't screw around with it. get the other tank done as quickly as possible or better yet, wait till the other tank is ready and then go for it.
