    Hello,

I was considering buying a Sailfin Tang in the near future but my friend has one & said it spends a lot of the time hiding in his live rock.

    Is that common?

    Thanks!

How long has he had it? What other fish is in there with it? What size tank is he in?

Mine swims out in the open from the time I placed in the tank.

My friend has a 75 gallon tank & I think he has some angelfish & other tangs in there. He has had the fish for 1 week.

sounds like it may feel insecure in the tank it is in

You just answered the question - sorry

as if its moved into a larger tank with less active tank mates
it will probably come around nicely and be front and centre again

honestly, neither of you should have one, you might be okay if you got one a juvi. but then when he reaches full maturity hes gonna need 150-200+ to be happy.
