Dam. Last night my fire fish jumped out of the tank and died :(.

I clearly need to get a lid on the tank.

I got some aluminium egg crate grill. But im not sure how I can get it to stay on the tank because I have my light tank mounted and an overflow box.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fish proof my tank?

I think BRS sells a jump screen kit.

I have an 8" canopy on top of my tank. Came with the stand. It has two removable glass tops that are hinged for feeding and access to the tank. The back side is open, so I used BRS mesh to enclose the whole back.

Here is a pic of the whole tank when I first started it up (hence why the rock is white):

And here is how I enclosed the back of the canopy:

Hope this sparks something for you :)

That looks definatly like something i will look into. I still need to do some more work on my stand so I might get a big hood/lid type thing.

Depending if I can get one that can cover over my light with appropriate cooling.

    Thanks :)

as far as the bubbles, is the PVC from your return pump to the outlet a closed system?

If so I'd add a "T" to the top and put a "vent" to air and run the return from that, if that makes sense? Basically run your return straight up, then add a T and run return from that back into your tank, this should allow air to escape and not create bubbles.

But, dang nice 55 my friend, very well done.

nah, 20 minutes max! just a window screen kit and the mesh, easy as heck, and I feel ya, I didn't build mine till after the second $100 wrasse carpet surfed. $20 is well worth it.

Do you get what I'm saying sbout the return, I feel like I described it poorly

Ill definately make a move on the screen. The only hurdle is, my light is tank mounted and the mount comes in an 1' over the side, which cuts off alot of the balancing stuff (the little ridge) that the screen would sit on. So it fits flush with the tank? haha another poor description lol :p

To be honest I dont really get the "T" thing :p
