It's made for bait tanks and not aquariums, but an inline pump up to 1100 GPH that comes already fitted to PVC sure has the wheels turning. The entire Rule Livewell/Baitwell pump assembly is a cartridge that can easily be removed too. Only $60 for the 1100 GPH version. Hmm.

Convenient, flexible pumps for baitwells and livewells
Innovative pump design includes new features like a quick one hand push-button motor cartridge removal system, rotatable base that allows you to position the discharge nozzle at any location, and threaded nylon hose barb attachments, which allow for various hose mounting options. Also included is a built-in dual port option, water-cooled housing and a positive snap motor cartridge locking mechanism. Pumps are fitted for transom or seacock mounting options. The C series features a 4" angled pickup for thru-hull applications; STC series has a 4 3/4" straight pickup; FCseries seacock has a 1"straight pickup.

I've often wondered if a bilge pump could be used, as they, too, are fairly inexpensive. But as boat accessories, they're only 12v, so one would also need a power converter with sufficient amperage output. :)

I didn't even think of voltage! :) Nice.

Well after reading the reviews I think I will wait for next year's version!

I work on boats personally. And sometimes i wonder if these ever work. Some other pumps run with 120v its all sealed from the motor and run all plastic.

Can't ya just cut and splice a 12v converter from a accessory or similar to accomplish this? Just curious!
