Yes, most have brass ends. However, not too many decades ago, copper pipes and brass fittings were the de facto standard in household plumbing; you'd be surprised at how much is still used in faucets, etc. OTOH, the RO/DI filter removes any contamination.

Agree with Mr. B. And yes it matters what order you put the filters in.

+1. My BRS sees 85 PSI without issues. As mentioned, the higher the pressure, the better. It increases the efficiency of the membranes and so they will last that much longer before you need replacement.

This from the manual of a spectra pure unit at the bottom of one of the pages.
Now I know this may not hold true to all ro/di units but it does show that I was at least at little close in what I said. If I am wrong I am SORRY FOR ANY BAD info I may have posted.

*Operating pressure less than 40 psi may require a booster pump: Use BPLF-MO-115(-230) for Manual Operation, or BPHF-PS-250/4-115 with Electronic Solenoid and Pressure Switch Control
***Operating pressure greater than 80 psi will require a pressure reducing valve.***

Advising one to run their unit above 80 PSI is misleading and can cause damage. RO/DI filters are not all equal; the best advice is to read the manual.

Vendors mention 80 psi as a liability statement. I run my Spectrapure at 100 psi and have done so for over 5 years with zero issues. I might not do that with other brands though unless I know they use UPC and ANSI/NSF rated housings and fittings and not imported clones.

Yes you can run the system off a garden hose but i would keep it inside or at least in a shaded area away fro heat and cold and bright lighting when in use then in the house in a climate controlled area when not in use.

Yes it makes a difference on which filter goes where. You should have a sediment filter first, carbon block second, membrane third and DI fourth. Some vendors still insist on a second unneeded carbon in the third spot but its a waste of money if you have a good low micron sediment filter and a 1.0, 0.6 or 0.5 micron carbon block second.
