so i was checking my ro unit today and i found that one of the filters was broken. ( the one with the sandy stuff)

i can probably buy anotherone from my lfs but do you guys think i can still use it? ( the water still passes through the 3 filters but the sand filter has a crack and the sand is sort of loose)

the reason why it cracked is because i had my RO unit outside since there is no place for it inside our house. And well it was a cold winter night lol and the thing froze on me and when it warmed up it cracked. ( lol)

If it is just the housing, you can replace it...it sounds like you are talking about the DI chamber??? You can also buy a refill cartridge, ready to go

You could unhook the line to the DI and just run RO and sediment filters. Better than tap until you can replace them

Don't use the DI, it will probably send all the resin into your water.

    +1 to Robman's suggestion.

You store a used membrane in the refrigerator not freezer.
You will want to remove the cracked DI housing until you get a replacement, HD or Lowes or any hardware store will have one.
Use your TDS meter andcheck the tap water and RO only TDS to make sure the membrane was not damaged before using any of the water. It should be in the 94-98% removal range if its working and was a good membrane to begin with.
