I'm sorry, I probably should have explained myself better to begin with. I explained just above. a few moments ago. :)

lol Just realized this won't work, as the tank holds 5 gallons, not 20. ::) But it will do fine.

I understand now!! I have a 75gpd. I change 25-30 gal every 2 weeks. I just start mine in the morning...10hrs later it is ready. Add the salt, heater, and a powerhead. Run it overnight, and change it in the morning while they are still "sleeping". The fish never even know I did it!!!!

Well, what I did when I got my RO was bought 6 jugs (2.5 gallons each) of distilled water, and fill/empty those as needed with a pump from the tub; no tank necessary, and you don't get cool/cold water from depressurization. As a side bonus, the water is already aerated, as I leave the air pump on in the rubbermaid tub while the RO runs; if I wanted I could premix salt in too, but I need the 6 jugs for topoff.

Nice. I should get an extra powerhead beyond my DT for salt mixing, shouldn't I? Right now I use a large stir stick which seems to do alright. But I figure if I'm spending all this money, I should spend it right the first time. ;) With a powerhead, I also would have to do virtually nothing to do my WC. :)

I saw those 30g trash cans at Lowe's. To buy one is more expensive than the cost of the tank. I'll heat the water in the buckets using a heater, and powerhead. Overnight I guess.

I fill my water line to just below the top rim of the tank. The water won't evaporate below the black trim in a week. So I no longer need to top off. It's quiet too!

You need a powerhead and a heater for a mixer tub. Heater only if the water changes will ever be decently sized, like >10% of the tank's volume.

The rubbermaid tub I use was like 8 bucks at Lowes, with no wheels. I got 3 of them, and layered them inside each other, only because the first one started bending and I was kinda getting scared it would break. It's ~18 gallons to the top rim, so I leave ~3-5 out.

You say u use an 18g with no wheels. Previously you said you used (3x) a 30g on wheels..

ok It's only $18. for a 32g brute trash can.
