I am going to install my RO/DI filter under my sink (hopefully), connecting it with the cold water supply. I live with my parents so I don't want to connect it permanently with the saddle valve. I got my RO/DI filter from bulkreefsupply.com.

I've been doing a ton of reading, since I'm really not a DIY kind of person and while it seems kind of easy, I'm nervous and I want to do it right without a mess! I went to Lowe's with I picture I found on this site, but I couldn't find the right one. An employee there sold me some pieces that will replace the valve for the cold water and have a part for the ro/di input tubing, but I'm not sure it will work under there. The cold water supply has copper tubing, so its not bendable.

Anywho, my question for you nice people is could you show me a pic of your hook up or find a pic of the part I should buy. I haven't tried my parts yet because I don't think they will work.

I would love to see pics of under sink installs (not the saddle valve) to give me more of an idea of what I need to get and how to do it. I know I'm making this harder (probably) than it is....but it isn't easy without the right parts!

    Thanks!

its a lot easier and less permanent to install it to a laundry hook up or hose faucet. have you considered either of these options?

For temporary hook ups I could hook it to the faucet. I just wanted to store it and hook it up under the sink.

My laundry room is upstairs and the fish tank is downstairs so I'd rather not have to haul the water down the stairs.

A hose could be an option, but I'd have to have it outside during that time and I'd rather not do that....unless I could run the tubing under the door or something.

Here is how I did mine:

    http://www.3reef.com/forums/general-reef-topics/installing-undersink-ro-di-68421.html

I initially used the saddle but one I had a chance to get to the hardware store I cobbled together a supply T which you will find a picture of at the end.

Generally what you need to know is the size of the water supply riser, the size of the faucet supply, and the size of the fitting for the RO/DI supply.

Perhaps a picture of the cold water supply under your sink?

Thanks for the link. How do you find out the size of the water supply riser and the faucet supply? I know the ro/di tubing is 1/4".

Here are pics of the cold water supply:

And the part that Lowe's sold me:

    (I still have my receipt :) )

Here is the pic I found on this site (I think) that I was looking for at Lowes:

Thanks to whomever that belongs to!!

My supply is all copper, including the faucet supply as you can tell. That makes me think the piece I bought won't fit because it would have to connect to the front of that piece.

for the hose thing, i ran the tubing in through a window. I cut a piece of strapping to the exact width of my window, and drilled 2 holes a hair bigger than the outer dimensions of 1/4" tubing. after everything was hooked up I siliconed the small holes inside and out, and used "great stuff" to fill any tiny gaps on the exterior of the window.

it worked great for me as the window I used was 3 feet from my tank. so now I have an ATO with an infinite reservoir and after T'ing off the output have a bucket with a float valve for mixing water when needed.

JBL you think I could find something like that at Home Depot? Thanks for the pic.

Hmmm...I live in the (finished) basement so there are no windows. :(

If I can't find something at Home Depot, I suppose I will just have to use the faucet. I have limited counter space, so that's the only issue I have with it. I can always store it when not using it.
