hey all, i got some rics this weekend ( i love rics) and they are a browny, peachy orangy colour (hard to explain but not green or blue). when my husband toped off the evaporation water with RO water some of the rics turned to that beautiful blue/purple colour. Is this normal for them to suddenly change in split second or is it something to be concerned about?

How long did it take them to change color? Do you have any pics you can post?

well i had them in my tank for a day but the ones that changed seemed to change instantly(but it could have been gradual and we just didn't notice) mind you by the time I was shutting my lights off the others seemed to be changing as well. this morning all the rics are blue/purple except for one. The LFS i got them at had them pretty high in the tank with goniapora and xenia's w/ pc lighting. could them being too close to the lights have caused them to stay a light colour? I placed them mid tank in moderate flow and then after a day the changed. They are a nicer colour now. I had never seen rics that are a fleshy/brn colour...always purplly/blue or green. they look great, they slimed a little when I first added them then it was gone and all the polyps are full. Rics require moderate lighting and flow and thats exactly as I have them. I will post a pic tonight.

Could be that the corals browned out from being directly under the lights considering they like low to medium lighting but I've never heard of color change happening so quickly. I'll wait to see a picture tonight though because I don't want to say that the corals are fine until I see them :)
