Return Pump question

    okay i lied....def not two feet forgot it has to go UP to the top of the tank LMAO its been a while lol but i think i still may try the mag 12 i dont need a lot of flow from the overflow just enough to keep up with the return



    one last question.....i am getting a smaller sump. the one i might be getting has one inlet verus the two inlets mine has now.....is it possible to run both returns to the one inlet?

    I would just add another inlet. One inlet for two intakes may not be enough.

    how would i add an inlet? i might just us a 30 long and just have baffles and let it dump in....i hate plumbing and all this lol im horrible at this part of the hobby! but on the good side i found a brand new mag 18 for 115 shipped, i was gonna pay 114 for a mag 12!

    If your sump is made of acrylic you can drill a hole and add a bulk head or a filter sock holder (see link). If you post pictures I can give you better ideas and instructions.

    okay ill get it then and go from there.....man i feel like a newbie when it comes to plumbing lol also metal how about a quiet one 4000? 1017 gph, would that work?

    i only need a sump to house my skimmer for the 180 gallon....do u think a 20long is fine or should i do a 30 long i just have to make sure it fits under my stand with out moving my tank? also a mag 18 is 23 dollars more then a mag 12....is it worth the extra money or is it over kill?

    i might even just do a mag 9.5....all i am looking to get out of this is enough flow to keep up with the drain, i have enough flow in the tank i dont need a lot out of my returns......some one help lol so i can order this stuff tonight

    +1 I'd go with an ocean runner 3500.

    the oceanrunner 3500 is nice and its not to expensive but only 900 gph is that enough bc im gonna be T'in it off to to returns with about 6 feet of head

    Ah, didn't realise this thread went onto 2 pages, thought you only needed to push a head height of 2ft. I would definitely go for the OR 6500 then or equilivant other make.
