    Reduce to 1/2" at the top if you are going to use valves, use 1" if you drill holes like a spray bar. Thinking about it more I would say do the spray bar option because it would put less shadows in the tank.

    A spray bar would be much simpler. But with that, wouldn't there be the most amount of flow/pressure, closer to the back of the tank(that being where the return is located)? Pressure would decrease as the water reaches the holes in pvc closer to the front of the tank.

    It wouldn't be anything significant if the holes are sized properly and not too numerous.

    So like 4, 3/8" holes in 1" PVC?
