This is aquarium related. So that's why it's in this forum. If in the wrong forum, please relocate.

I was at the city pool today. It is an in-ground pool of course & I was noticing the drain & return lines along the edge of the pool.

I want to do something similar to this for my return line in the aquarium DT.

I'll be back in a few minutes with some drawings. :)

...Wish the drawing was a little bigger.

Edit: a "T" will be used at each connection then a ball valve to control pressure. 1" return line, reduced to 1/2" at each outlet.

Return should be used as a water circulation and aeration source, just not the sole source because you would have micro-bubbles from hell.

This would be in addition to powerheads & is solely for surface agitation.

That might work well depending on your return pump.

You'd get some noise based on it being over the water, or possible flooding issues if it's under the bottom of the teeth of the overflow. Otherwise, it works as a surface agitation, other than the fact that you'd be putting "cleaner" water over the overflow, and back down into the sump quicker.

A little noise is alright with me. I like the idea.

Um, it will be a herbie OF; so...I guess my return will be just above the water?

I tried doing something similiar and at times it made an odd gurgly noise come out of the return line which was half submerged on the surface. I have mine submerged now. I'd say give it a try and see what happens and then decide.

How did you secure yours, smack, so that it did not fall into the water?
