refugium size?

    How wide does a refugium need to be? Is a 12x12 footprint sufficient for a refugium? Whats the common size people use?

    Usually people go with 10% total volume.

    I just made a sump and my fuge is a bit bigger than 10%

    It really depends on you and what you can do. 10% is good, but the bigger the better.

    That would be a nice sized refugium, but I agree with the bigger the better. I suggest figuring out the foot print needed for your skimmer add a couple of inches for baffles and then dividing the rest between the fuge and return section.
