If I defrost a cube of Mysis, can I refrigerate what I don't feed for later? How long will it keep?

I'd have to agree with Steve, after all...have you ever seen him be wrong ?!?

An alternative might be to cut the cube with a knife and keep the unused portion frozen. Another alterative would be more fish so you can use the whole cube :)

I do the same. I only have 5 fish (3 of them gobies) so I only feed 1/4 of a cube every other day. I cut it with a knife the best I can, and then thaw the cut piece in a cup with a bit of tank water. The rest stays in the fridge until further use is needed.

There was a big jump in the number of bacteria (I think it was a vibrio spp.) found in the juice of "kept" mysis.

I keep a plastic knife with the food in a bag in the freezer and just reuse it. imo that's a bit safer than letting it defrost and refreezing which is kinda like leaving hot dogs out until they are warm and putting them back in the frig.

Also if you leave it in the fridge for the next day I find the stench to be terrible no matter how I keep it covered.

I'm not big on the fishy smell :) I cut the frozen cubes in half. I actually do it when I first get a new pack so I don't get lazy about doing it and then put in a zip lock freezer bag

You realize that you are starving your fish right? Do you honestly think that fish only eat once every three days? And a quarter of a cube at that. I know that they are Small fish but they need more than that. Feeding them every other day would be like feeding you once a day every couple of days, you wouldn't like that would you?wa

Fish eat all day every day in the wild and when kept in captivity should be feed at least once a day every day. I have 7 fish in my 75 gallon and have for 4 years now.

I feed them every evening of the week I put a little food in the tank and watch them, if they clean up what I have given them in 5 minutes or so I give them more. You really need to feed them some more!
