I need to replace my skimmer. I had it narrowed down to Reef Octopus Diablo 160 Protein Skimmer and was going to order today. The Marine Depot site states it is discontinued, some site state out of stock. A couple show it as still available.

Main reason I am looking at these is sump size.

I emailed CoralVue and they confirm it was discontinued, and being replaced by the Classic 160 Protein Skimmer. Main difference seems to be a Aquatrance 2000s pinwheel pump. The Diablo came with a Sicce PSK 600 pinwheel pump. My last option is a SRO 1000LSS Protein Skimmer which has a Bubble Blaster 1000 pinwheel pump.

The new Classic model is due out end of month.

So my question to all of you who know more about this than I: Should I grab a Diablo, get the SRO 1000LSS (which according to CoralVue the Bubble Blaster is better than the Sicce) or wait for the new Classic. Though I'd prefer not to wait.

Currently running a MarineLand 300 on a 90 gallon/20 gallon sump for the past 4 years.

Couldn't wait. Pulled trigger on SRO 1000LSS.
