Reef Keeper Lite Level 1

I decided to take the plunge and buy a controller. I was having trouble deciding between the level 1 and 3. However, I cannot find level 1 anywhere. Did they stop making it?

Next question.

All I want to do is be able to control my lights and heaters. However, I do want 8 plugs so I can have everything plugged in to one unit. The PC4 costs about $90. Would I be better off buying the level 1 and extra PC4 or just buy the level 3 and enjoy the extra toys for about $80 more? I am thinking the level 3.

 

Anytime you can get more components for the same price... Do it. You never know what you will need in the future.

 

the RKL1 w/ extra PC4 is about 180 and the RKL3 is 280. So actually for $100 more I can get lots of extras. I think I will just wait longer and go w/ the RKL3 and maybe by that time they will be cheaper.

Ok, last question. Is the elite model worth the extra money if you don't have fancy equipment to control?

 

I got the level 3 and really like it.. I might even get the salinity probe and SL2 as an upgrade.

 

My main problem is I don't understand what all the fancy names mean and what is needed for what. I would love to have a salinity probe hooked up to it. Do I just buy the probe or do I need to buy something else with it?

 

Say I don't want to use the pH probe. Can I put another probe in its place or do they have to go in certain spots?

 

They all have certain spots.. You will probably want the pH probe. Its what I leave my display on and I can walk by the tank and see my pH at all hours of the day.
