I was at my LFS earlier today and saw that they have a used 250 max for sale. I have been entertaining the idea of a predator tank for a while now and this caught my eye.
I did a forum search and most posts I found on the 250 max were old, so I am wondering if anybody has one of these and would recommend it for a predator tank, or really as a tank in general? Is having a all in one tank good or more of a pain? Are there known problems with this tank? Let me hear the good, bad and the ugly!
The store is asking $799 but I think they would be willing to negotiate.. maybe 600-700 - If the 250 max is a good tank, is it worth that asking price??

Thanks for any advice you can give!

I got my 180g brand new for less than that. I would look around at larger tanks especially if you want to do a predator tank. Depending if you want new or used and also the type of fish that you want to keep, you can find great deals in local reef clubs and craigslist on bigger tanks.

You can get the Red Sea Max 250 for 799 brand new. That tank is only 34 gallons so you are only limited to dwarf lionfish or small predators.

Actually the rsm 250 is 65 gallons, the 130 is 34 gallons. Sounds like a good price for that tank seeing as it retails for 1600-1800.

Yep you are right. But I was pricing the Red Sea Max 130. The 250 is around 1700.

You could keep some small/medium lions or scrops in there. Although getting a bigger tank that isn't an AIO would be wayyyy better.
