    Hi Colcol
dont have any experience of this model, but do know a couple of people who have had positive experiences of other Red Sea reef tanks

hopefully someone who has this exact one, will be on site and reply

I have one here is my thread

    http://www.3reef.com/forums/show-of...arting-over-t-ball-redsea-max-130d-55923.html

    It is a nice tank.

    Pros:
    Looks good
    decent lighting
skimmer actually does a fantastic job
Electrical compartment very cool and clean.

    Cons;
Runs hot..Always topping off. Living in Florida does not help.. I will need a chiller for this but had to get one for my 135gl first

Pain in the but to get to chemical filtration/carbon. The back compartment where your skimmer, heater(I have mine turner off), and then return pumps is very narrow. The return pumps are located on the left back side. The carbon and other chemical filtration goes in that compartment first and then you put in you pumps. So to get filtration out you have to take the pumps out first.

Over all I am happy very happy with it.

Make sure to look around and also check out liveaquaria/dr fosters for nano systems as I they have a variety of them.

Good luck and let us know what you go with

I have one and love it. I keep softies, zoas, and some LPS just fine. I have added a sump but you don't have to, I just found the stock skimmer didn't make the cut although I have had a hefty bioload in mine at times. A lot of people go on about other setups that can be done for the same price but I can tell you first hand that six months from now you will look at it and still be impressed. and it's a neater package than any all in one tanks out there.

I am not sure if medhatreefguy has the 130D or 130 but as an FYI the 130D had a few upgrades and one being the skimmer as the 130 did have some issues with the skimmer itself.

I have to clean my skimmer every week as it is thick and caked with skim.

Thanks everyone! im looking forward to getting my red sea 130d now!
Chris i had read that the 130 had issues and the 130 d is upgraded on a few items, and the skimmer was one of them.
i hope the one on the 130 d is better than the one medhatreefguy was talking about.

    Thanks again guys.

I have the 130. I bought it right before the 130D came out so I did get the cabinet fan which is included with the "D" model and I think I have the better lights (no heat issues). The skimmer did not have the adjustable neck like the "D" or the skimmer box in the tank. I added a Coralife skimmer and I get much better results.

    hi everyone,
i ahve the red sea max and yes i have to put extra fans on because it gets hot and it is a pain to change the carbon, cause you have to take the pumps off.
but now i have a new issue"ICH"i just bought the uv sterilizer lets see if this works?
