    hey guys,
I introduced this fish a week ago and he's been very active. He seems to be sleeping or possibly sick. I see no visible damage on him but he's always been out and about while the lights are on. So far, three hours into the day he hasn't been out of his cave. Is this normal? Do they also sleep during the day (I know it's a stupid question but all the others are zooming all over the tank)?
I may be over reacting but I thought I'd ask.
The water is in check with salinity at 1.022 and I'm about to do a water change shortly.

Well what kind of fish is this now? Is it a flame angel? If so they are def rock dwellers so not seeing it for a few hours is generally not a major concern if its just one day.

But all of the general questions still apply if you are looking for help:

    age/size of tank
    filtration
    skimmer
ACTUAL parameters. You said they are "in check" but even your salinity is a bit low. You should be more in the neighborhood of 1.026 - not saying your SG is so low that it will cause immediate problems - but it might not be helping.

Also - how long has this fish been in the tank? What are its tankmates?

    Octopus skimmer
    PH is 8.2
    Nitrite 0
    Nitrate 0
    Ammonia 0
    Phosphate 0

While doing the water change he moved. I guess I'm just a little concerned since two flame hawks and one bengai cardinal have been lost. I'll wait until this evening to see how he's doing. BTW he's a flame angel

What do you mean they've been lost, they died? How recently? What other fish do you have in the tank?

one flame hawk got sucked into the skimmer, another was sitting at the back of the tank for two days (probably bullied by someone) and then I found him half eaten the following morning - he showed no signs of being sick. The cardinal didn't make the transition to the new tank, simply died.
    stock I currently have:
    percula
    royal gramma
    blue tang
    flame angel
    3 cardinals
    1 orange spotted gobby

age and size of the tank? Filtration? Sump? Fuge? Lighting? Substrate? Addatives?

Didn't see values for Calcium, Mag, or Alk - safe to assume this is a FOWLER tank? Flame Hawk would not likely be sucked into the skimmer- it was likely dead or near death when it was sucked into the skimmer.

Seems like you have lost a number of fish - would need the answers to the rest of the questions if you want our input on how to maintain better fish vitality.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
This is the 75 gallon bowfront that has been up for over 3 months right?

Do you get all the fish from the same store?

yes, it's just over 3 months old now and all the fish from the same store

    72g bowfront

the flame hawk got sucked in due to the bucket being below the water line so I trimmed the tube and raised it. lesson learned that Octopus skimmers lack immediate setup

    UPDATE:

He died. No visible ich although my blue tang has it with cloudy eyes. In 7 months of keeping my fish I didn't have an outbreak of ich but it seems that the blue tang brought it with him. Really sucks.
