I have seen many pics of people that have them in their reef tanks with a lot of soft corals. I love this fish and think it would complete my tank. Anybody have experience with one in their reef tank, and have been successful with it not chowing down?

It's really hit or miss. There are people who keep them in reef tanks with no problems. Then there are people who have them and they destroy their corals. If you really want one, get one and see how it goes, just keep an eye one him. But remember, they may be fine and model citizens, but one day they can decide they want to eat your acan or chalice colony etc.

we have two in the tank at penn state... the tank has every coral you can imagine, mostly sps and lps tho and no problems! I have one here at home, still no problems...
But like guitarman said, you may get one that has a taste for your corals

Thanks guys for the input I think I'll try one and keep my fingers crossed that I get a vegetarian. I guess if he does start causing problems I can just spend a couple days chasing him around with a net and tearing down my live rock :)

My blueface gets coral nippy when he isnt fed shrimp in the morning, I feed him shrimp every morning now and hes a good little critter. He hasnt been so nippy lately. Occasionally in a blue moon now Ill catch him eying up something but normally passes it by.

I have a flame, bicolor, and a pygmy angel and they don't touch my corals. My biggest problem is my large regal tang moving my corals all over the tank, its like playing hide and seek every day when the lights come on!!

See if your lfs will put the flame you want in with some corals for a couple of days to see if it will nip them, my lfs is doing that with a Potters angel right now!!
