Thanks mattb but please don't take my "Bigger is Better" comment as any kind of endorsement of the misguided few on here who have clearly taken things well beyond the limits of sanity.

IMHO, unless you are a glutton for punishment, reasonable tank sizes probably top out at around 180gal.

It's so easy for a man with a Rolls Royce to tell the less fortunate how wonderful it is to own a measly Mercedes. ;D

I agree get as big as you can afford.... but the increased cost of bigger tanks is probably more than you realize so just be cautious. You can get a tank cheap but that's just the beginning.
Now the good thing with bigger tanks is they are more forgiving to your mistakes in water quality / chemistry. Go bigger for that reason more than anything.

Oh no, please dont take it that way, I don't mean to come off that way at all. Besides, how long did I have my 40 tall? ;)
But I have been on both ends of the spectrum, and bigger is better. My 200 requires less than half the maintenance my 40 did. Bigger tanks really are easier to run. I say if your a glutton for punishment go with a nano, as you will constantly be having to meddle with the thing ;)

Thanks for all of the insight, guys. This is a great site and as a saltwater newby, I really appreciate all of the help. I went to my local store today to slobber over the big tanks...lol
