Ok so I'm talking to my buddy about his tank and he tells me he HAS to get rid of it because in his apartment building someones 90gal crapped out and leaked into the two apartments below theirs. Now the apartments do not want ANY tanks. He has a guy picking up his tank and the livestock except for a couple of super small blue legged hermits and a scooter blenny. He tried to bring the blenny back to his LFS but they won't take back livestock??
My tank is relatively new but my green algae has started and my tests are all coming back spot on. Do you guys think it's safe to take him if I acclamate him super slow??

    Temp - 78.5
    SG - 1.023
    pH - 8.3
    Nitrates - 0
    Nitrites - 0
    Ammonia - undetectable

This is the coolest little fish ever. The reason he called me about it is because he know's I used to love watching him scoot around the tank (one of my FAVORITE fish!!)

    What say you, 3reef??

It's a little quicker than I'd planned to get another fish but if everything is ok in the tank and I watch closely I don't think there should be a problem. Oh, Scooter is .75in long

    Cliffs Notes:
Friend has to get rid of tank
Someone picking up tank except for scooter blenny and 5 TINY blue leg hermits
    tests all good
    favorite fish
    yes/no?

How long has the tank been up for? If you finished your cycle you should be ok. However, keep in mind that this fish can be harder to keep because it forages for food among the live rocks and normally needs an established tank so that its natural food can grow and develop. If it eats frozen or prepared food, you should be ok, but you never know.

He eats frozen brine and these emerald omnivore cubes. The tank is new, ~1 month, but I've already had my ammonia spikes, nitrates climbed, nitrites took over and settled out :D

I would if you havn't take a small amount of his sand bed and put it in yours to help boost yours and get some natural food growing like copepods

Thanks!! You know, I've found sooooo much help here at 3reef. You guys are awesome.

Oh and one more update (I'll also note in my update thread) I found a super small, barely noticeable featherduster!!! It is not aiptasia or anything. It has a hard tube and "feathers." I really thought I got barren rock but now I have macro and featherdusters popping up!! I'm amazed that these kinds of things make it through a cycle.

I'm guessing it says something good about the tank to have them all sprouting right??

If I am not mistaken, the scooter blenny feasts on pods. A new tank is generally devoid of such a food source and needs to be seeded. You can get pods online if there is nothing at the LFS. I would look for copepods. It may be that, for the next couple of months at least, you will have to target feed him. So starvation is my main concern.

Very true. He eats omivore frozen cubes and brine but I will order copepods for him as well. If he doesn't take to it then I'll try bringing him to my LFS as they're pretty friendly :)

Well PharmrJohn.....no need to worry about her not eating things. She just nommed my featherduster :shifty:

I have copepods on the way. What I think I'll do is strain them out of the water they come in and release them under the rockwork to do their thing and begin populating. I am so glad she's eating though, even if it is my featherduster worm!!
