ok so on my local forum a guy is selling an oceanic 60 gallon cube with stand, drilled, with overflow, and stand for 100$..ok so i wanna buy it..ok but it has to go where my 30 gallon is..sooooo if i use new dry sand..take down my 30 and put everything in a rubbermaid tub, how long till i could start putting my corals back in..i have my 20 i guess i could put something,,but i have my huge lta that in no way could go in the 20 along with all the other stuff i have..also im not sure if he has the sump tank..so i might be either using the 30 or 20 for the sump..

another ? should i do this, since i just set up the 20 and now i might be tearing everything down for this new tank..

also anyone know the dimensions of the 60..i think i can use my 30" sunpod.

go for it man, if something doesnt work out just find a way around it. if worse comes to sorse you can just suspend the lights above the tank

just put it all in, move the corals where the anemone isnt, also quick contact with an anemone will not kill coral. just prolonged contact over several hours

first of all contact the guy and ask him about the sump and the dimensions. then you will have a better idea what you are working with.

And yes, even without a sump that is a great deal.

    it doesnt come with sump..but i have a 30 and 20 i can use..

so i can just get the tank, put dry sand in it, of course let that settle and clear up and then transfer everything from my other tank a few hours or maybe a day later..

i will def check params to be safe before i do, but i think ill be safe..

come on mods and pros gimme the ok that i will be safe so i can pull the trigger on it..

You should be ok, just make sure you have good movement and lighting on the tote, i did that to all my corals, when i cleaned my tank and rock and they did fine, just make sure you have a tote with the sides as tall or taller then your tank so when you put your light on it doesnt bleach anything.

As long as your existing tank isn't to old you should be able to swap everything in one day. Just move the corals and fish out to a tub then put sand and rocks in the tank, add water and use a HOB filter or canister filter to clear up the water.

Then once it is mostly clear you should be able to add the corals and fish. You might want to add some Bacteria like Foster an smiths Colonize to forgo any cycle that occurs but even if it does cycle it should be a really small and ineffective one.

The problem with doing this with older tanks is the sand tends to have some pretty bad stuff building up in it over the years that if get stirred up it can create all kinds of problems. I have moved one of my tanks several time in the last 2 years, the wife complained about where I originally set it up the decided she liked it better where I originally had it. I did it this way and never lost a fish or piece of coral.

yeah thanks...im waiting on him to respond if its still available and im gonna get it..

so next question people..its a 60 gallon could i keep a very small tang in it and be safe..like one that maxes out at 4.5" or a kole tang..just yes or no answer, i know some tangs need at leastn4ft swimming space, and read that some just need room to swim..
