Quick question: Is it okay to have aiptasia in a non-reef tank? I noticed one popped up (after 10 months!) in my 37. I want to keep him if it's okay. All I know is that they can/will kill coral, but that tank has none. Thanks!! :)

As long as there's no really tiny fish that would get badly injured or killed by the sting, I don't see a problem.

Okay...I have a yellow clown goby, but he never hangs out where the aiptasia is, and I have a red head pseudo who is kind of small...but I don't "think" he would be small enough....

I think the fish would be OK.

If you get too many aiptasia, or ever decide to convert it to a reef, you can always throw in some of the obligate aiptaisia-eating nudis.

That's probably the one of the most interesting things you can do with a tank full of aiptasia, too.

Yeah, this one will never be a reef. It's my happy go-lucky fish only tank where nothing ever goes wrong. Thank goodness I have one of those!!

Well I crossed my fingers and knocked on wood. Hopefully that was enough prevention!

One means many more.... if you don't get them out when they are a singleton... he'll invite many more friends to the party.

So unless you want a flowing meadow of stinging appies your fish won't be able to land on....... nip it in the bud now.
