Questions about Hydor Koralia power heads?

Hmmmm....Im thinkin if three would be a little better? (I don't have my LR or sand yet) Im wondering if I should have one on each end pointing in diff directions and one behind the LR pointing up?

 

First - and I'm a bit surprised no body asked - it really depends on what kind of coral you want.

I have 1 nano, 2 K1's and 2 K2's in my 55. I do not have a return pump or anything like that really.

I am about to take out one of the K1's. It's simply too much flow and my tentacle type corals (Euphyllia (frogspawn/hammer)) hate it.

Also my dendro, colt, and bubble do not like a ton of flow. The dendro particularly wants stagnant water.

Both of my K2's point at the surface... so they don't do much for the lower levels where most of the corals i mention are being kept. So I'll just have one K1 in front of my "rock wall" and one nanoK pointing behind it (or I might do the reverse of that, we'll see).

If you're wanting predominantly SPS type corals, you'll want additional flow.

If you want to mix, you'll have to be creative on PH placement

 

Thanks Peredhil! I have a nice patch of GSP right now and Some cute pink daisy looking ones (Still dont know the name of them, lol) along with 4 tiny reddish/brown mushrooms with orange spots. (I am upgrading my 30 gal soon, still collecting the supplies.)
As for the kind of frags I want, well, Im going to have to see what catches my eye at the LFS's tomorrow.

 

well i have a k4 and a k2 and a mag7 return my water flow is crazy along with a power sweep

 

I love the hydors, on my 55 frag tank i have 2xk1 and 2xk2, im trading the k1s to a fellow reefer for his 2xk4s so after im dont the 55 will have 2xk4 and 2xk2, but if you get four k22 you should be fine.
