Questionable Tactics By LED Company?

I can find an answer about Orphek, EcoTech, BoostLED Ecoxotic or Aqua Illuminations, and I can find them all in the same way. It doesn't seem that anyone wants to accept answers when they come from Orphek like they will from other companies. Whether this is because bad history with them, I can't seem to figure out. Everywhere I look all I see is people saying they're shady, but I still can't find out why people say that.

What a complete joke. They dont want to send their light to someone who is going to put it over a tank and take PAR readings? They said that PAR readings dont offer anything useful? LOL. They could have summed it up with one sentence like this - "We only send fixtures to people who will give them good reviews"

Any questions that I have had for those companies where quickly answered in detail by their reps.

BTW, Orphek has actually bashed some LED fixtures and brands on this forums and stated that their every evolving power diodes are the best on the market.

That shines some light on the Maddux thing. Obviously they had a relationship with him at one point until he went rogue. Other than that, they make some very valid points. Reviews should be done by qualified people, and simply putting a PAR meter over a tank doesn't tell much. That's why Sanjay can get just about any fixture he wants, including Orphek, and most other people can't.

That's what I'd love to see!

 

That is truly the root of the problem.

But even if we do get those answers, how can we be sure that it is truly coming from the source. We don't even know who the source is.

I will be more than happy to provide facts but I don't want to provide links. Anything I provide I want it here pemanently. This is why RB provided cache copies of the links. They new that there would be a cover-up. I need to take screen shots as Orphek has a way of reading the boards and covering their tracks. I recently caught a slip but they have since deleted the info.

 

In all fairness insanespain, I would have probably answered a request for a review unit on a public forum in the same way. As far as I've seen from talking to them, our humor doesn't line up very well with theirs, and he probably didn't get the joke.

 

I've seen a few of those posts and thats what I have been looking for. The problem is that either the mods, or Orphek themselves have gone back and deleted the posts. I stumbled upon a couple threads I remember but the posts from orphek were missing. What really turned me off about orphek was when I first was getting into the hobby and learning about LED lighting, I watched them bash BoostLED on THIS forum. Basically telling boost that their fixtures were junk because they were just reselling cree emitters and that their "power led" emitters were the best. A company shouldnt have to bash other products to get sales. The best way to sell your product is to produce a quality product and let the product itself do the talking for you. Something of which BoostLED has done quite well, and something that I have yet to see from Orphek. You can find probably a hundred threads about happy boost customers on here and tons and tons of pics to prove it. Where are all the happy Orphek customers posting up stunning pics?

 

So in that case, what would be enough for you. This is the problem I see us coming to. Nobody will believe the quoted word, but if a manufacturer shows up and says it, they are shilling. How is it different from other companies? Does anyone know the owner of EcoTech's email? How about Aqua Illumination?

 

So if I'm reading your post correctly, you are trying to imply that Orphek was joking with the OP in that thread? If that is what you are saying I would have to disagree big time.
