You think I'm in contact with Orphek?. I think you are mistaken LOL. I think it's important to stick to the facts though. Such as, what i asked before, how do they define a general PUR, for all the corals we keep? No where in the literature have I seen any data to even suggest this is possible, more the opposite actually. Certainly manufactures should be able to support their claims if they want people to buy their products, so, this seems like a fair question. Defending hearsay isn't really fair. Knowing who runs the company probably is fair etc... LOL.

You dont think that it matters where companies get their parts from? Well if they are claiming that they designed their own emitter specifically for reef aquariums, and they are buying off the shelf units instead, then I think it matters alot. It's false advertising.

Design can mean number of things. I'd have to read exactly what they are claiming and and see evidence that they do something different, to have a problem with it. "I heard from so and so that this and that and they are crap, they lie steal and kill babies" just doesn't quite cut it.... I'm certainly not recommending orphek lights by any means, but facts are facts and everything else is not...

Sorry if I am mistaken, I though that you could help to answer these questions. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get your fixture from?

    Sure thing.

On my 93, I built the wood fixture. In it, I've placed a lumen bright mini-wide reflector with a 250w Pheonix SE, powered by a galaxy 250/400W select-a-watt ballast. I have a 4 bulb Current T-5 fixture i had left over, with a mix of ATI bulbs. And then I have 2 all blue, PAR30s. IIRC, the MH was from either Premium aquatics or Aqua-cave, the current from Marine Depot, I believe and the PAR30s from Boost LED.

Sorry my phone sent before I finished. On my 29 display, I have a 70w MH with a 10000k Ushio, both from Hello-lights and 2 Rapid PAR 30s. On my 20g, I have a current 4 bulb Sundial T-5, from a close out sale at an LFS. I replaced the bulbs with a mix of ATIs from aquacave.

On my 6g Fluval edge, I have 8 Cree LEDs I put together from Rapid LED.

Also, I have a 60g rimless 48x24x12 fragtank on order. If it ever arrives I am leaning towards 2x175w MHs (I would go 150, but I want to hang the reflectors high so I can look down, but good reflectors such as lumen brights don't appear to be available for the 150s) or a diy led setup.

I think that does it.... Does that answer your question ;)

I can't speak for them and don't know who names they want out in public, so all I can say is Mr. Wilson at central speaks for them.

Looks like this is turning into a good LED conversation.

Every time I talk to him about LEDs I get the same vibe, and that's why he shouldn't have done it. He obviously has something against them which he shouldn't have let come out in an opinion piece. If he were to put together cold hard facts about the exact problem he has with Orphek, then I would sit back and listen.

I just find it interesting that when something is said, to give a certain company the benefit of the doubt, certain individual(s) try to link me to said company. What's the motivation there? I mean is this a reef discussion or political blog? I guess if the motivation is to get the thread shut down, or just completely piss on any hint of legitimacy, then it's going in the right direction for sure...

I don't think he was meaning to be accusational. He just asked if either of us had some information about Orphek.
