Does anyone know if it's ok to raise the pipe for the water gate valve to make it so that I don't need as much of a riser in my sump. It's part "n" on the diagram. My sumps baffle will have water height at 10.25" I have raised the skimmer up on a platform I made of PVC and egg crate but it's tight to get my collection cup out.

I would assume that if that pipe is 1" or so higher it would mean that the water would be 1" higher in the skimmer. But, is that a negative??? Sorry for the noob question... There is a lot to learn!!!!!

Is there a particular reason you feel the need to raise it in the first place?
Reefocto says 6-10" depth. With your skimmer is your output of the gate valve completely submerged at 10.25"? If not then there is no need to raise it on a stand or increase the length of "part n" on the diagram . . . .

Thanks for the reply! Yes the bottom of the output valve is 7.75" and is a 1.5" ID. So it would be totally submerged without a stand or extending that piece.

Ok I understand a lil better now.

Hmmm. . . .and seeing as you are having clearance issues with the collection cup I would say it's a least worth a shot. Running the skimmer in higher water will decrease the head pressure a lil bit on the skimmer so it should have no problem keeping up with the flow. And you should still be able to adjust it with the gate valve.
Though I must admit I have never modded a skimmer like this so perhaps someone else who has can chime in for you . . . .

Also, don't see why you cant try calling Coralvue at the number on the brochure you linked. I bet they would be able to tell you better than most if that will work . . .

    best of luck to you!
